WASHINGTON, Nov 24: Judges of the US Supreme Court invited Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry to a reception on Monday to express appreciation for his struggle for the rule of law in Pakistan.
The invitation came from the US Chief Justice Robert Johns but he had to excuse himself because of his father’s death. Other senior judges of the US Supreme Court attended the reception.
It was a rare occasion as the US Supreme Court does not hold such receptions for visiting dignitaries. They are particularly careful about inviting people involved in a dispute with a government of an allied country.
