TCP handles 1.7m tons of wheat


KARACHI, Nov. 24: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has completed handling of 1.764 million tons of imported wheat and lifted almost the entire quantity of the grain.

A TCP official said here on Monday that 45 ships had discharged wheat imported from different parts of the world since Sept 2008, at Port Qasim and the Karachi Port.

He said that the TCP has not only used most efficient network for lifting this wheat but also ensured its prompt delivery to the end-users all over Pakistan.Of the total, about 1.725 million tons of wheat has been lifted and 1.234 million tons has been delivered to destinations, he added.

At present, the TCP is making arrangements for delivery of 468,000 tons of wheat, which is stored at its godowns.—APP
