Hossain wins gold medal in rifle event

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22: Mohammad Asif Hossain from Bangladesh asserted his undisputed class, capturing men’s (individual) gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle event in the fourth South Asian shooting championship at the Gun Club of Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday.

On the opening day of the championship, the Bangladeshi shooter showed consistency and focus among his rivals by scoring 694.3.

Imran Khan from India took the silver medal by scoring 692.2 while Mohammad Imran Hossain from Bangladesh won the bronze by scoring 689.8.

In the women’s 50m Rifle Prone (individual) event, Atiya Naz from Pakistan top scored with 590 and took gold.

Meena from India with score of 588 grabbed the silver while KD Pardeepika from Sri Lanka scored 583 to clinch the bronze.

Pakistan won a gold medal in the 50m Rifle Prone Team (women) event with a score of 1,746 while India (1,742) secured silver and Bangladesh (1,710) earned the bronze.

In the 10m Air Rifle Team (men’s) event, Bangladesh clinched gold scoring 1,761 while India (1,753) snatched silver and Pakistan (1,733) bronze.
