KARACHI: Anti-Aids plan

KARACHI, Nov 21: Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed on Friday told Dr Nafis Sadik, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Aids/HIV for Asia, that an amount of Rs1.8 billion had been earmarked for a five-year plan aimed at taking preventive measures against Aids/HIV.

Dr Sadik called on the minister in his office and discussed the progress made by Pakistan in its Aids/HIV prevention programme. She was informed that the government had allocated Rs517million for the project last year.

Dr Ahmed said that proposals for coordination among health, education, social welfare, and anti-narcotics departments for creating awareness were under consideration.—PPI
