Robbers take away Rs1.6m from bank

FAISALABAD, Nov 20: Three robbers looted a bank in broad daylight in Jamilaabad in Nishatabad police precincts on Thursday and took away Rs1.6 million cash.

Reports said three motorcyclists entered the Jamilaabad branch of the United Bank Limited, held the guard hostage by snatching his gun and made off with cash. The bank management told the police that the robbers looted Rs1.6 million.

After receipt of information, city police officer Ahmed Raza Tahir, SSP Rana Iqbal along with force rushed to the spot and cordoned off the adjacent localities but could not arrest the accused.

Police have registered a case and started investigation. It was learnt that security cameras installed inside the branch had recorded the incident and police received the recording.

Talking to Dawn SSP Rana Iqbal said investigation was under way and culprits would soon be arrested. He claimed that the police had found some solid clues.
