HYDERABAD: PTCL team probes death of worker

By Our Staff Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Nov 19: A two-member team from PTCL headquarters Islamabad arrived here on Tuesday in Hyderabad for making queries regarding death of a supervisor, Khalid Ahmed, who had died in an accident on Hali road and the subsequent protest by workers.

The two officials held a detailed meeting with Regional Manager Zulfikar Ursani. They are reported to have recorded statements of some union leaders, including Shakeel Ahmed Khan, the central deputy chief organiser of Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Union regarding the incident.

On Nov 11, PTCL workers held a gathering in (old) central telegraph office (CTO) compound following death of Khalid Ahmed, who died in Karachi after he received serious burn injuries in an accident while on duty in Hyderabad.

He had received 70 per cent burns after an excavator hit a gas pipeline in that area.
