Four militants killed

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: Indian troops killed four suspected militants close to the Line of Control in occupied Kashmir, police claimed on Tuesday.

The four were killed overnight in the mountainous Uri district near the de facto border with Pakistan, a police spokesman said.

The gunbattle erupted hours after the region voted under tight security for a new state government, with a boycott call by pro-independence Kashmiri leaders triggering sporadic clashes but failing to shut down the ballot.—AFP
