Phelps wins Golden Goggle Awards

NEW YORK, Nov 18: Michael Phelps’ record-setting performance at the Beijing Olympics earned him three Golden Goggle Awards on Monday at USA Swimming’s annual banquet.

Phelps, an eight-time gold medalist at Beijing, won USA Swimming’s male athlete of the year and male race (for his come-from-behind win in the 100-meter butterfly) awards and relay performance award with Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak in the 4x100 freestyle relay.—AP
