KHAIRPUR, Nov 18: A delegation of PML-F led by its provincial leader Imtiaz Shaikh and District Nazim Khairpur Pir Niaz Hussain Shah, visited Mithal Jagirani village, Gambat taluka on Tuesday.
The delegation offered condolence with the relatives of the three youngsters who were killed in police firing.
Talking to journalists Imtiaz Shaikh said that murder of the youngsters by police proved that there was a police state in the district and regretted that rewards had been announced for police for carrying out managed encounters. He deplored that despite lodging of FIR the SHOs had neither been arrested nor terminated while relatives of the murdered youngsters were being pressured to withdraw the case.
Allah Wassayo Jagirani and Mithal Jagirani, the notable of Mithal Jagirani village told the delegation that they were being pressured to withdraw from the case and added that they had confidence in the police inquiry. They demanded an inquiry either under the supervision DIG Sanaullah Abbasi or A.D.Khwaja.
WORKSHOP: Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur professor Dr Nilofer Shaikh has said that new research has disclosed new realities about importance of environment according to which birds and wild animals were very important for better environment.
She was speaking at a workshop titled “Indus for All” at Allama I.I.Kazi Hall of SALU here on Tuesday, which was organised by WWF.
She said that pollution has affected many parts of world hence it was essential to create awareness, while spreading such awareness through educational institutions was a positive step. She added that “Indus for All” is a good slogan. She said that she has decided to plant Neem tree in the SALU premises.
Speaking on the occasion, secretary Forest Mushtaque Memon said that we need to increase forests to improve environment and added that Neem trees were to be given to growers because they help to contain pollution.
Speakers professor Dr Raza Bhatti, Aftab Akhund, Nazeer Memon, Nasir Panhwar and others said that the continuity of human life in this area was through Indus River.
They said that it was important that Kandi tree, which was planted along Indus River, was vanishing as its number was decreasing day- by-day.
