HYDERABAD: Six detainees freed after raid on police post

HYDERABAD, Nov 18: A judicial magistrate of Tando Mohammad Khan freed six people from wrongful confinement after raid on a police post of Bulri Shah Karim police station on Monday evening.

The raid was conducted on the orders of sessions judge of Hyderabad after an application was filed in his court by Dholio through Ayaz Tunio advocate, seeking release of Dadan, Bhooro, Ghulam Mohammad, Allah Dino and Punhoon Nizamani.

The applicant’s counsel argued that the detainees had been falsely implicated in a case filed at Tando Ghulam Hyder police station and they had sought a pre-arrest bail which had been granted to them on Nov 15.

They left for Tando Mohammad Khan in a coaster after getting the bail but when they reached the bus stop, the SHO of the police station arrived there in a Suzuki pick-up and took them back to police station, he said.

Kamal Chang, Mehboob Chang, Ranjho Chang, Haji Chang, Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Murtaza Chang who were among very influential people of the area came to Dadan Nizamani on Nov 16 and threatened him with dire consequences.

He alleged that they also took away his 500 maunds of rice. The detainees were not involved in any case except for the said FIR in which they had sought bail.

He court appointed judicial magistrate of Tando Mohammad Khan to raid the police station and recover the detainees.

According to the applicant’s counsel, the magistrate raided the police station but did not find them there. He then raided a police post of Bulri Shah Karim police station and found them confined there, he said.

The counsel said that his clients had told him that they had been taken to the office of DPO of Tando Mohammad Khan where former district nazim of Badin Kamal Khan Chang and his brother Mehboob Chang threatened them to hand over agriculture land or face consequences.
