KARACHI: Dr Jalaluddin passes away

KARACHI, Nov 18: Former chairperson of the Library and Information Sciences Department of Karachi University Professor Dr Syed Jalaluddin Haider died here after a brief illness on Monday.

Born in Jaunpur, India, on July 8, 1938, he got his initial education in Jaunpur and later migrated to Pakistan and obtained higher education at the University of Karachi, where he also served later.

Having a command over the Hindi and Persian languages, Dr Haider was also awarded the Fulbright Scholarship as well as the PLA award of meritorious service. He also remained associated with various publications and had a number of write-ups to his credit.
