BoI chief denies cut in FDI inflows

ISLAMABAD, Nov 18: Minister of State and chairman Board of Investment Saleem Mandviwala said on Tuesday that there was no cut in foreign investment inflows into the country due to the law and order situation.

“Foreign investment is not leaving and it continues to flow into the country,” he said adding it is natural that sometimes the inflows go up and come down the other times.

The minister was addressing a press conference at the PID media centre on Tuesday. Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Vincenzo Prati was also present on the occasion. Describing Pakistan as a safe heaven for investors, the minister said that foreign investors earned more profits in Pakistan as compared to other countries.

Terming his recent visit to Italy as very fruitful, he said that his interaction with different investors were very encouraging as the Italian investors were keen to invest in various sectors of Pakistan economy.

“A number of Italian investors are already operating in the country while more want to come and invest in various sectors,” he remarked.

Mr Mandviwala said that the much-hyped misconception about the law and order situation was of no concern to the Italian investors as they think Pakistan a best place for investment.—APP
