Businessmen Group Boycotts QCCI polls

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Nov 18: The Businessmen Group, headed by Agha Liaquat Ali, on Tuesday announced that it would boycott the Wednesday’s elections of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, accusing the other group of having made fake membership.

At a press conference, Agha Liaquat said his rival group had included 15 names in the voters list of the corporate class, and those members were not eligible to caste votes.

He said the Director-General Trade Organisation (DTO) has already ordered deletion of these names, but the election committee is ignoring DTO’s orders.

”We have no other option to boycott the elections,” Agha Liaquat Ali said, adding his group would challenge the elections.
