HYDERABAD, Nov 16: The Sindh United Party at a meeting here on Sunday has condemned the victimisation of workers of the party and police raids on their houses.
Later, the SUP chief Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, Syed Zain Shah, Dr Dodo Maheri Naveed and other party leaders said in a joint statement that the rulers were trying to suppress the voice of dissent.
They were auctioning the national assets of Sindh and were also victimising the people of Sindh who were protesting against the sell-out of their resources.
They ridiculed the statement of federal minister Syed Naveed Qamar that the nationalist parties had maintained a discreet silence over the privatisation policies of the previous government and reminded him that SUP had staged a similar protest demonstration outside the residence of the then federal minister, Nisar Memon who was supporting the construction of Kalabagh dam.
Why has Syed Naveed Qamar become so touchy when a protest was held outside his residence, the SUP leaders asked and said that protest was their democratic right.
They alleged that the houses of SUP leaders were being raided and the sanctity of Chadar and chardiwari was being violated.
They warned that if the harassment of party workers was not stopped, they would launch a protest movement throughout Sindh.
MEETING: A meeting was held between Jalal Mehmood and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Basheer Qureshi at the latter’s residence in Jamshoro on Sunday.
The two leaders agreed on a joint movement against the auction of Sindh’s natural resources.
