ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: A man strangulated his wife to death over a domestic issue, police said here on Saturday.

According to the police, the man, resident of Dhok Awan Sihala and taxi driver by profession, strangulated her Friday night with a piece of rope.

The accused told the police that his wife was asleep when he returned home.

Despite several attempts to awake her, she made no response, driving him into a fit of anger, he added.

The couple had married 10 years ago and had three children. Earlier, they lived in Dhok Saydan, Rawalpindi, with the parents of the victim.

However, the family moved to Dhok Awan some weeks ago when the accused developed suspicions about his wife, the police said.

Family members of the victim in their complaint stated that the accused was gambler and used to involve in quarrel with the wife over petty issues.

They also nominated three other persons, including a woman, in a conspiracy to kill her.
