KARACHI, Nov 13: Riffatullah Mohmand fell seven runs short of a century as the NWFP built a massive first-innings lead against Sindh on the second day of the RBS Pentangular Cup match at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Thursday.

The NWFP, who were already in front by 19 runs on Wednesday, reached 284 for seven in reply to Sindh’s 96, to extend their overall advantage to 188 runs when play, for the second day running, ended early because of fading light.

The match was further interrupted for 30 minutes when overnight rain delayed the start on the second morning. Another shower before the lunch resulted in another 15 minutes of play lost.

But between these stoppages, the NWFP have almost put the match beyond Sindh as the overnight pair of Riffatullah and Shoaib Khan extended their fourth-stand partnership to 113.

Shoaib was caught in the slips off Sohail Khan for 56. Aftab Khan then helped Riffatullah put on 66 for the fifth wicket before he was caught behind by Sarfraz Ahmed off Azam Hussain for 31.

Riffatullah also fell to the Sarfraz-Azam combination after hitting 15 boundaries in his 93.

Zulfiqar Jan is still at the crease with 32.

Sohail finished the day with two for 82 in 26.4 overs. Azam took two for 37, but Anwar Ali failed to add to his three-wicket haul on Wednesday.
