LAHORE, Nov 13: Both Rawalpindi matches in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) resulted in a 1-0 score line on Thursday.
Maintaining their narrow second-minute lead until fulltime, league-leaders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) overcame Karachi Electric Supply Corporation 1-0 at the KRL Stadium while Chaman’s Afghan FC fought bravely against Army to lose by 0-1 at the Army Stadium.
KRL’s skipper Mohammad Essa took the ball from left fullback Kamran Ahmed to slice it in front of Rasool, who then slotted it past keeper Omar Farooq’s left hand. The goal in the 95th second raised Rasool’s tally to 18.
Meanwhile, Afghan FC put up a stubborn display to allow Army a slender 1-0 win. After a barren first half, Afghan FC’s keeper Fateh Mohammad was finally beaten in the 78th minute. Army’s striker Jaffar Ali hammered the lone goal with an overhead kick when midfielder Mohammad Khabab curled a dipping throw from the touch line.
Friday’s fixtures: Navy v Karachi Port Trust at Naval Complex, Islamabad; PEL v Pakistan Steel at Railway Stadium, Lahore. Matches kick off at 3.00pm.—Agencies
