ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: Farhan Mehboob will meet Aamir Atlas Khan in the final of the Pakistan Open Squash championship on Friday after they easily thrashed their opponents in the semi-final played at Mushaf Squash Complex on Thursday.

Safeerullah, who upstaged Kashif Shuja of New Zealand in the quarter-final, failed to make an impact on Farhan in the first semi-final.

Farhan defeated Safeerullah in a short 20-minute decider winning in straight games 11-8, 11-3, 11-7. Safeerullah failed to take advantage of some sloppy shots.

In a thrilling second semi-final, Aamir, second seed of the championship, beat Mansoor Zaman 12-10, 12-14, 11-9, 11-9.

Mansoor, put up stiff resistance against Aamir who won the first game on a tie breaker 12-10. Mansoor made a good comeback in the second game when he outplayed Aamir winning it 12-14.

However, in the third game Aamir recovered himself to win confidently 11-9 finishing the last game in same the manner.

Meanwhile, in the women’s event Heba Eltorky of Egypt stunned higher ranked Joe Chan from Hong Kong 3-1 in the semi-final.

Heba took full advantage of her controlled drop shots to win her first game 13-11 on a tie breaker. Joe bounced back in the second game as she came back hard picking up the drop shots winning it 6-11.

A resolute Heba, 17, on the other hand regained her control over Joe and struck some powerful straight drives in the third game and finished her opponent off 11- 8. The last game saw a confident looking Heba completely overcoming Joe 11-4.

Heba will clash with the top seed of the championship Christina Mak in the final on Friday.

In the second semi-final Christina Mak of Hong Kong crushed aggressive Sara Elnomany of Egypt in straight games 3-0. Christina won her first game against Sara 12-10 on a tie breaker.

Christina struck fine forehand shots as Sara failed to pick up some easy ones, losing the second game 11-7. Christina, despite running a temperature, trounced Sara in the last game 11-3.
