RAWALPINDI, Nov 13: An anti-terrorism court here on Thursday directed the station house officer (SHO) Wah police station to complete the investigation into the case of twin suicide blast and submit the charge-sheet against an arrested accused on November 27.
ATC-II Judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahot while extending the judicial remand of the accused - Hamid Ullah Mehsud - arrested in connection with the attacks outside the Pakistan Ordnance Factory in August directed the Wah police to submit the charge-sheet against the accused so that the case could see judicial proceedings.
Mehsud had been arrested on August 21 soon after the attacks that killed over 70 and injured about 100 mostly factory workers when they were leaving the factory. The accused was arrested soon after the blasts when he tried to slip away in a cab. On his information, the police had recovered a suicide vest from the toilet of a nearby mosque. So far, the investigators have learnt the names of the bombers who carried out the suicide attacks.
The police had also, on the information obtained from the arrested accused, recovered suicide vests, hand grenades and other explosives from Akora Khattak in Noshera district on August 25.
Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) sought the comments of three jail officials and the SHO Saddar Berooni police after a man moved an application for the registration of criminal case against the jail authorities over the death of his brother.
ASJ Ghulam Mehdi Khan directed the superintendent, deputy superintendent and a medical officer of Adiala Jail and the SHO of the area police to submit their comments till November 19 after Zafar Hayat pleaded for the registration of murder case against the jail officials after his brother Saddar Khan died in the prison because of a disease due to the negligence of the authorities.
According to the complainant, his brother was sentenced to death in a murder case in Mianwali but was transferred to Adiala jail for his treatment in Rawalpindi.
He told the court hid brother was not shifted to the District Headquarters hospital despite repeated requests.
