Punjab golf office-bearers elected

LAHORE, Nov 12: Lt Gen Ijaz Ahmed Bakhshi and Brig (retd) M. Akram Khan were elected as president and secretary of the Punjab Golf Association (PGA) for the next term of four years by the general body on Wednesday.

The outgoing PGA President Maj Gen (retd) Zafar Abbas thanked the outgoing office-bearers and spelt out the work done during the past four years which included the holding of Punjab Open Golf championship annually which now carries a prize money of Rs1.5 million from a meagre three lacs, revival of golf relations with India through the annual Inter-Punjab Cup, launching Talent Hunt Scheme for Juniors as a result of which six immensely talented youngsters came to the fore out of which five are now part of the National Development Juniors Programme of PGF.

Akram Khan (secretary); Lt Col Javed Iqbal (treasurer); Dr Zahid Khan, Lt Col Aneeq, Col Nasrullah Khatiana, Ahsan Rashid, Maj Mukhtar Ahmed, Junaid Ahmed Banth, Asma Shami, Tahira Nazir (Executive Committee members).
