Balochistan PA to discuss US attacks

By Amanullah Kasi

QUETTA, Nov 11: The speaker of the Balochistan Assembly on Tuesday admitted an adjournment motion tabled by a PML-Q member, calling for a debate on the consequences of missile attacks by US and Nato forces in tribal areas.

The motion said that people were being displaced, adding that they were seeking to settle in other areas for their safety.

Deputy Speaker Syed Mitiullah Agha chaired the session.

Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, who had tabled the motion, feared that the attacks would cause serious repercussions and said that they had created a sense of insecurity.

He said that if the displaced people migrated to other areas then foreign forces might hit “our homes”.

“Therefore, it is the responsibility of the assembly to discuss a sensitive issue which threatens our lives.”

Provincial ministers Maulana Wasay (JUI-F), Abdul Khaliq Watangar (JUI-Ideological),

Mir Sadiq Umrani (PPP), Parveen Magsi (PML-Q), Syed Ehsan Shah (BNP-Awami), Zamarak Khan Piralizai (ANP) and Sardar Aslam Bizenjo backed the motion, admitting it for a general discussion in the assembly.
