SAHIWAL, Nov 11: City police arrested nine people, including four women, from the Government Boys Commerce College hostel late on Monday night.

Police raided the hostel on the report of hostel superintendent Amir Aziz and arrested four women, hostel watchman, sweeper, college library assistant and a student when they were busy in ‘indecent activities’. The police have registered a case against them.

College principal Akram Shahid later formed a committee to investigate the issue.

‘OFFENDER’ KILLED: Chichawatni police killed an alleged absconder during a chase after a robbery attempt in a forest near 114/7-R village.

Police said Fida Hussain, a resident of 113/12-L village, was wanted in six criminal cases. On Sunday night, Hussain and his four accomplices were robbing a wedding party in 120/13-AL village when someone informed police about the incident. The robbers fled toward the nearby forest before the police arrived. The police chased them and an encounter ensued. Consequently, Hussain was killed and his accomplices fled.

LAWYERS’ DEMAND: The DBA has demanded that the district courts be dissociated from the Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court and associated with the Lahore High Court, Lahore. The demand was mooted by the district bar in the wake of the Punjab government’s decision to make Sahiwal a new division. Sahiwal, now ninth division of Punjab, consists of Pakpattan, Okara and Sahiwal districts. Sahiwal district courts are linked with the Multan Bench of the LHC, while Okara and Pakpattan district courts are linked with the LHC, Lahore.
