KARACHI: Registration authority for schools changed


KARACHI, Nov 11: The Sindh government has transferred the powers for registration of elementary schools (Montessori to Class VIII) from the Executive District Officers (Education) to the provincial directorate of private institutions.

According to a notification of the Sindh education department issued on Nov 8, 2008, the Sindh government has appointed director registration/inspections of private schools, Sindh, as the registration authority for secondary schools including O and A Levels schools and schools (from Montessori up to Class VIII).

The secretary education (through director registration/inspections of private schools, Sindh) will be the registration authority for higher secondary schools/colleges/degree awarding institutions including those having academic linkage/ foreign collaborations/ affiliation, with any other institutions of higher learning and teachers training, Grammar School, Jesus & Mary School of O and A Levels.

Moreover, the director technical education has been appointed as the registration authority for vocational and IT institutions.
