RAWALPINDI, Nov 10: A bailiff here on Monday recovered three persons from the illegal custody of the Saddar Bairooni police.
Shahbaz Gul filed a habeas corpus petition with District and Sessions Judge Attaullah Kosar against the illegal custody of his father Gul Mohammad and two relatives - Aurangzeb and Mohammad Shafique - by the police.
The court appointed Malik Lal Khan as a bailiff who raided the police post located on the Girja Road and found the three men sitting inside.
The police officials on duty failed to produce any case or criminal complaint registered against the men.
Later, the judge directed the in-charge of the police post to appear in the court on November 14, along with the relevant record, and explain why the men had been detained.
Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge issued arrest warrants of six police officials for not recording their statements before the court in three different narcotics cases.
In the first case, ASJ Ghulam Mehdi Khan issued arrest warrants of Zafar Iqbal, an ASI of Banni police, and attached his salary for not appearing in the court to record his statement in a case pertaining to the recovery of less than 1,000 kg charas from Shakir Khan last year.
