Dollar rises

LONDON, Nov 10: The dollar climbed against the yen but fell against the euro on Monday as the foreign exchange market digested a massive stimulus package for China’s powerhouse economy, dealers said.

In late London trading, the euro climbed to $1.2744 from $1.2719 late in New York on Friday. The dollar rose against the Japanese currency, to 99.17 yen from 98.21 yen on Friday.

The yen tends to drop as stock markets recover because it is sold to fund risky trades but some dealers said the Japanese currency was unlikely to fall far.—AFP
