HYDERABAD, Nov 8: A medical board formed by the director general of health services has found ‘some deficiencies’ in the post mortem report of Naveed Sheikh and proposed exhumation of his body for a fresh autopsy, according to Waheed Shaikh, brother of the deceased.

“The members of the committee are of the unanimous opinion that post-mortem report of Naveed Shaikh issued by Dr A Waheed, senior MLO, is ‘deficient’ technically, giving rise to ambiguity,” he said quoting excerpts from the board’s decision on Saturday.

He said that the board said that “to arrive at a proper decision exhumation of the deceased is suggested”.

The board’s head, Dr. Afzal Memon confirmed proposal for exhumation, saying “yes there are some deficiencies in the autopsy report which could be attributed to lack of knowledge.

Makki Shah police meanwhile obtained three-day remand in police custody of Ms Shagufta Ansari and Mohammad, a Jordanian, from the court of civil judge and judicial magistrate-X in Naveed’s murder case.

Naveed was found dead in mysterious circumstances on the seventh floor of a residential complex in Cantonment area on Oct 27. His father had raised serious doubts over the senior MLO’s autopsy report.
