KARACHI: Woman, three others killed in violent acts

KARACHI, Nov 8: Four people, including a woman, were killed on Saturday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.
The Gulberg police said that a 37-year-old man, a resident of Musa Colony, was found shot dead near his home.
They said the victim, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi, was a meat-seller at Gulistan-i-Jahuar, and he had been missing since Friday night.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim received a single bullet to his head from a point-blank range.
The police said that a case against unknown culprits was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
They said the incident seemed motivated by a personal enmity.
Woman found shot dead
The body of a 35-year-old woman, mother of three, was found near Agha Building in Kalakot.
The police said that the victim, Rasheeda, wife of Ibrahim, was a drug peddler.
They said that unknown culprits kidnapped the woman, shot her dead and threw away her body in the small hours of Saturday.
The body was taken to the Civil Hospital, where sources said a bullet had pierced her skull as she was shot from a point-blank range.
The police registered a murder case against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s son, Mohammed Sharif.
Young man shot dead
A 26-year-old man was shot dead at Hijrat Colony in the Jackson police limits.
The police said the body of the victim, Mukhtar Ahmed, son of Gulzar Ahmed, was lying in street 49 near his home.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem examination.
Sources at the JPMC’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim received a fatal bullet wound to his head. They said the man, owner of an internet cafe in the locality, was shot from a point-blank range as the bullet had pierced the skull.
The police registered a case (FIR 506/2008) against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Nisar Ahmed.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was shot dead in Korangi.
The Zaman Town police said that Mohammed Raza, son of Din Mohmmed, was returning home with his wife and a six-year-old son after attending a marriage function when unknown attackers shot him dead.
