IAAF chief blasts IOC

LONDON, Nov 7: The top official in world athletics has slammed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for agreeing that London’s Olympic Stadium can be converted into a football ground after the 2012 Games.

Lamine Dick, the President of athletics’ governing body the IAAF, said on Friday: “As an IOC member myself, I voted for the host city for the 2012 Games in Singapore and, obviously, one of the most compelling arguments in favour of London was the fact that the city desperately needed a world class venue for athletics,” Dick said.—AFP
