Three die owing to suffocation

LAHORE, Nov 7: A man, his wife and their two-year-old daughter died from suffocation when a fire broke out in their house in Gulshan-i-Ravi here on Friday.

Rizwan Tariq, a 35-year-old transporter, his wife Asma, 27, and their daughter Shahzeen were asleep at the second storey while Rizwan’s mother and sister at the first floor of their 70-E, Park Mor, residence.

According to Rescue-1122, the fire broke out at the first floor on Friday morning. The smoke also engulfed the second storey room where Rizwan, his wife and the daughter were asleep and they died owing to suffocation. found murdered: A newly-married couple was found murdered in their house in Ali View Park on Bedian Road here on Friday.

Police said Muhammad Rehman, 28, of Samanabad and Gulshan Anwar, 24, of Iqbal Town, had contracted a love marriage in August this year. After marriage, the couple shifted to a rented house where they were found shot dead on Friday.

The police said the couple might have committed suicide because the room was locked from inside. However, police said they were investigating on other lines as well. They said the couple was facing financial constraints.

SHOT DEAD: Gunmen of a union council (UC) nazim allegedly shot a 25-year-old man dead and injured his pillion over a minor issue in Defence on Friday.

The police said Omar Iqbal and his 24-year-old friend Zeeshan were going on a motorbike when their two-wheeler hit UC Nazim Maqsood Bhatti’s car. Following an exchange of hot wards, nazim’s gunmen shot at the motorcyclists and fled.

Both the bikers were shifted to hospital in critical condition where Omar died.
