Red alert in Pindi, Islamabad

RAWALPINDI, Nov 6: The federal government has declared a red alert in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Thursday in the wake of a latest suicide attack on a Jirga in Bajaur Agency, Dawn has learnt.

The source said security forces had been put on red alert after the latest suicide attack in Bajaur Agency in which more than 20 people were killed on Thursday.

A senior police official said they were taking all preventive measures to avert such an incident.

Extra police have been deployed around sensitive installations and police facilities in the twin cities and night patrolling has been increased.

Random checking of vehicles is being done at exit and entry points.
