KARACHI: SHO asked to submit reply in contempt plea
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, Nov 5: The district and sessions judge, Malir, on Wednesday directed the SHO of Shah Latif Town to appear in court on Nov 11 and submit his reply on a contempt matter.
The applicant, Iqbal Masih, through his counsel Dilip Kumar, filed an applicant under Contempt of Court Act stating that the same court on an earlier application filed under Section 22-A of CrPC had directed the SHO on Oct 21 to record the statement of the applicant and take action in accordance with the relevant law.
However, the applicant said, despite a lapse of around two weeks, neither had the SHO recorded his statement nor had he taken any action.
In the earlier application, the applicant had alleged that ASI Anwar and three other policemen of the Shah Latif police station had forcefully entered his house on the night of Oct 10 and had taken his son and a guest to the police station, where they were subjected to torture. The next day, he added, the policemen extorted Rs30,000 from him and took away his nine goats for the release of the detained persons.
He also accused the policemen of ordering him to keep silent over the matter and threatening him with dire consequences if he tried to defy them.
