HYDERABAD, Oct 30: It has been decided to open the historic Rani Bagh for general public soon, said District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil during the inspection of imported animals.

These include ostrich, zebra, pony, peacock species, monkey and birds. Rani Bagh is not only a zoo but also houses Eidgah, Abbas Bhai Park and an open air theatre which were visited by the District Nazim.

He said that around 50 per cent of animals and birds have been imported while the remaining will shortly make their debut.

He instructed the officials concerned to ensure proper care of animals along with completing the work, immediately.

Deputy Project Director HDP, Abdul Haleem Ghori and other officials of the district government, nazims and councilors accompanied the nazim.

VISITS: District Food Controller, to ensure that quality wheat flour was being sold at the government fixed rates, paid surprise visit to 14 khakis and flour mills on Thursday.

The DFC Abdul Malik revealed this in a handout adding that he along with the Food Inspector visited Abdul Rasheed, Abdul Hakeem, Kohinoor, Shafique, Hanif, Prince, Bukhari, Chishtia, Indus, Kamran, Nasir Raza, Sumair and Islam grinding mills and Al-Noor, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Modern roller flour mills.

He acknowledged that quality flour was being sold for Rs245 and Rs220 per 10kg, respectively. He said that no violation could be detected anywhere.

HUNGER STRIKE: Activists of PPP-SB continued their token hunger strike outside the press club on third consecutive day here on Thursday. They are protesting against hunger, poverty, price hike and lawlessness.

Talking to reporters, Syed Imran Shah, Abdul Sattar Jarwar and Ms Tehzeebunnisa said that people were living in abject poverty with rampant unemployment, price hike and lawlessness, while the rulers spending tens of millions of rupees on their foreign tours and luxuries.

They said nothing good can be expected from the present rulers and added that they will continue struggle under the leadership of party chairperson, Ms Ghinwa Bhutto.
