Car prices raised

KARACHI, Oct 30: At a time when industrial activities have witnessed a slowdown, local car-makers have come out with a fresh price hike of Rs50,000 to Rs144,000 due to falling rupee value against various currencies.

The makers of Honda cars jacked up the rate of Civic by Rs84,000-144,000.

The VTi Manual Transmission and Vti Prosmatec Automatic are now priced at Rs1,669,000 and Rs1,759,000 as compared to Rs1,555,000 and Rs1,615,000.

The price of Vti Oriel Manual and Vti Oriel Prosmatec Automatic has been increased to Rs1,789,000 and Rs1,859,000 from Rs1,705,000 and Rs 1,775,000, respectively.

According to an authorised dealer, the price of Honda City has not been increased as its production has been suspended for the last few months in view of a new model to be launched early next year.

An authorised dealer of Indus Motors, maker of Daihatsu and Toyota Corolla cars, said that the price of Cuore has been increased by Rs60,000 each. For example, he said the Cuore CX CNG ECO is now priced at Rs669,000 as compared to Rs609,000. He said the price of Toyota Corolla cars has been enhanced by Rs50,000.
