Suicide bomber hits post


BANNU, Oct 29: A suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden jeep near a military checkpost in the cantonment area here on Wednesday afternoon, causing injuries to eight soldiers and four civilians.

Army and police personnel immediately cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to hospitals. The condition of three of the injured was stated to be serious.

The area has government offices, residential units and military installations, including the Combined Military Hospital.

Investigators said the jeep had been blown into pieces and only the hair of the bomber could be found at the site. The hair would be sent for DNA test.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack till late night.
