LAHORE, Oct 29: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has demanded the suspension of Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR’s) decision to restore Sales Tax audit.

The LCCI at a meeting on Wednesday condemned the restoration of audit by the FBR. LCCI Chamber President Muhammad Ali Mian said that audit was no doubt a requirement but the present time was not appropriate for it as hundreds of industrial and commercial units had been closed down due to unprecedented inflation.

He said the decision should be put on hold till the economy got back on track. Audit should be restored after consultation with the stakeholders and should be undertaken only the collectorate.
