KARACHI: Millers agree to cut flour price
KARACHI, Oct 29: The Flour Mills Association on Wednesday assured the Sindh government that wheat flour in open market of the city would be made available at ex-mill rate of Rs25 per kg from Thursday.
The assurance came during a meeting between Sindh Food Minister Nadir Magsi and a delegation of the association on Wednesday.
The association agreed to reduce the rate after the government’s decision about raising the quota for Karachi flour millers. The minister announced the decision that the quota for Karachi flour mills was being raised to 100,000 tons per month, and strictly directed the millers to sell the wheat flour at Rs25 per kg as ex-mill rates.
The association assured the minister of their full cooperation in this regard.
Meanwhile, the minister directed the officials concerned to take strict action against the mills found violating the decision.
Food Secretary Ejaz Ali Khan and director Lal Khan Jatio were present at the meeting. The association was represented by Arif Jamali, Khalid Mehmood and Chaudhry Mohammad Yousuf.—PPI
