School, college games

LAHORE, Oct 28: The Punjab Olympic Association has announced that it will organise the first Inter-school and collegiate Games 2008 from Nov 1 to 5.

As many as 60 schools and 20 colleges of the province have confirmed their participation in the games comprising 13 different events, said president of the association Syed Shahid Ali Khan.

The president explained that the games would help the province prepare players at the grass root level. He pointed out that in the past the school and colleges were ignored which caused a decline in the national sports.

The disciplines for boys are athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, netball, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and gymnastics.

The girls will feature in athletics, badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, softball, gymnastic, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo and hockey.
