Tennis events offer big purse

KARACHI, Oct 28: A lucrative purse of Rs0.9 million will be on offer for players during the first fortnight of next month in two national ranking tennis tournaments which take place at Peshawar and Islamabad respectively.

According to information, the 28th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Khyber Cup Open tennis tournament, which carries Rs0.5 million, runs at the PAF Officers Mess, Peshawar, from Nov 2-8.

It will be staged in men’s singles, ladies singles, juniors

U-17 singles, boys U-13 singles, men’s doubles and veteran doubles.

The two-day qualifying round will commence on Nov 2 followed by the main round from Nov 4. Top 10 seeded players will be provided free accommodation by the hosts.

The second tournament on cards is the 25th Federal Cup which takes place at the Islamabad’s PTF Tennis Complex from Nov 10-16. Federal Cup commemorates its silver jubilee this year and carries Rs0.4 million in prizemoney.

It will be held in men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, juniors U-17 singles, boys and girls, boys U-13 singles, mixed doubles and seniors doubles 45 year and above.
