LAHORE, Oct 28: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered registration of a case against a police sub–inspector for illegally detaining two women and subjecting them to torture.

Bailiff Allem Akbar, who recovered Irshad and Perveen from SI Rana Abdul Rauf’s custody from Lubanwala Police Post, Ferozewala, submitted in his report that he visited the police post along with petitioner Amjad Ali and found the detainees in constables’ mess. The detainees informed him that SI Rauf arrested them from their homes on Oct 23, but did not produce them in any court. Irshad informed him that Rauf tortured her and he wanted to arrest her minor son too. Rauf reached the police post when he learnt about the bailiff’s arrival and denied he detained the two women. — Reporter
