TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 28: On the orders of Punjab chief minister, district prosecution officer on Tuesday filed challan against a police inspector, who had allegedly killed a headmaster, under section 302 of PPC, instead of section 319, as prepared by the police concerned.

The headmaster of Ferozepur Road Government Model High School Attaullah was allegedly killed by a Toba Tek Singh police inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti on July 23 at his farmland after he (Attaullah) shot dead a plainclothesman taking him for a dacoit.

The headmaster’s killing had sparked protests at Pirmahal, his native town, as well as in Lahore. The protesters had demanded probe into the murder by high police officials, alleging the local police were favouring the accused.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had deputed Sheikhupura investigation police who found Chishti and others guilty and returned the case file to Pirmahal SHO with the direction to arrest the accused and his two accomplices – head constable Noor Muhammad and a Qaumi Razakar, Allah Ditta.

But Pirmahal police had challaned the accused under section 319 PPC instead of section 302 PPC.

Attaullah’s family brought the matter again in chief minister’s notice who ordered the prosecution branch to again prepare the challan of the case under section 302 of PPC.

Accordingly, district prosecution officer Aslam Khan Niazi prepared a new challan and sent the case for trial against the three arrested accused under section 302 PPC.
