SANGHAR, Oct 28: Prisoners at the Sanghar district jail on Tuesday protested against the killing of an under-trial prisoner on the premises of a court on Monday.

They climbed onto rooftops of barracks and refused to go to court for hearings.

Sanghar Taluka Nazim Saeed Khan Nizamani, District Naib Nazim Dr Mehmood Ahmed Rajput and some jail officials negotiated with the protesting prisoners and persuaded them to end their protest.

The prisoners were assured that security would be provided to them on court premises.

An under-trial prisoner was shot dead in court premises when some prisoners were brought to the court of civil judge Shahdadpur from the district jail on Monday.

Arib Rid was allegedly attacked by his opponents from the Rind tribe. He died on the spot.

One of the attackers was arrested on the spot.

Deceased’s brother Majid Rid told reporters that although his family had already informed officials about a possible attack on Arib, police did not provide security to his brother.

Police, on the complaint of Arib’s cousin Niaz Hussain Rid, have registered a case against Mohammad, Latif, Dost Ali Rind, Ali Gul and others. Niaz alleged that sub-inspector Abbas Rind was also involved in the murder.
