Quetta car bomb blast kills two

By Amanullah Kasi

QUETTA, Oct 27: Two people were killed and 12 others injured on Monday when a bomb planted in a car went off.

According to police, the car had been parked near the gate of Liaquat Park, on the Anscomb Road.

One of the bodies was mutilated beyond recognition, while the other victim was Mohammad Yousuf, who was riding in a rickshaw.

Doctors at the Civil Hospital said two of the injured were in critical condition. Fire-fighters succeeded, after several hours, in putting out a fire which engulfed several vehicles parked nearby.

City police chief Mohammad Akbar Arain told newsmen that the bomb weighed 10kgs. He said five cars and four rickshaws had been damaged.

Chief Minister Aslam Raisani said explosions would not weaken the government’s “determination to take action against terrorism and extremism”.

The Anjuman-i-Tajiran Balochistan held a protest outside the press club to condemn the blast and lawlessness in the province.

The chief of the traders association, Abdur Rahim Kakar, said the government had failed to protect the citizens.
