ISLAMABAD, Oct 25: The BE Telecom students of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Saturday called off their strike after reaching an agreement with the university administration.

A meeting in this regard was held here, which was participated AIOU Vice Chancellor Mehmoodul Hassan Butt, area magistrate, assistant commissioner, a senior member from Pakistan Engineering Council, Registrar AIOU and student representatives.

The administration accepted all their demands in the meeting.

The meeting decided to set up labs in Rawalipindi and Lahore campuses as directed by the PEC inspection team for the students of current semester besides including optical fibre in the course. Both the formalities were prerequisite for the accreditation of this discipline with the PEC.

However, examination of mid-term would be delayed for a month and time will be utilized for teaching new subject to students the. An Mou in this regard has been signed with Comsats, Dr Mehmood informed the students.
