DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Nine policemen kidnapped

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 25: Nine policemen were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from a checkpost in Darazinda Frontier Region on Saturday, officials said.

Sources said that the police officials stopped a vehicle loaded with flour at the checkpost but the men riding in the vehicle took them away. Sources said that kidnappers belonged to Shirani tribe of Dera Ismail Khan Frontier Region.

The administration had sent a jirga to Shirani tribe to ensure safe recovery of the kidnapped policemen.

The kidnapped officials included SHO Apeal Khan, ASI Zaman Khan, constables Irfan, Munawar, Mohammad Majid, Wajib Ali, Mohammad Imran, Kifaiatullah and Mohammad Umar. Kidnappers also took with the police van.

Police cordoned off the area and started search for the kidnappers. Talks were under way for the recovery of the kidnapped officials, officials said.
