KARACHI, Oct 24: Karachi swept the Sindh badminton championship which concluded at the Sukkur Gymkhana on Thursday night.

According to results made available here, Ali Mehdi, the reigning national U-19 champion, accounted for Asad Shaikh of Sukkur 22-24, 21-14 and 21-18 to grab men’s singles crown.

He completed the double when pairing with Harrison Burnet the duo beat the pair of Asad Shaikh and Farhan Mohib 21-15, 21-19 to claim men’s doubles.

Karachi’s Monisha Kotia, the reigning national U-16 champion, also ended up with a double crown.

She carved out 21-20, 21-10 victory over Rahat Yasmin to annex women’s singles title and later teaming up with Mehwish Zaman they overcame Farhat and Rahat 21-15, 14-21 and 21-12.

Men’s singles: Ali Mehdi (Karachi) bt Asad Shaikh (Sukkur) 22-24, 21-14, 21-18.

Men’s doubles: Ali Mehdi and Harrison Burnet (Karachi) bt Asad Shaikh (Sukkur) and Farhan Mohib (Hyderabad) 21-15, 21-19.

Women’s singles: Monisha Kotia (Karachi) bt Rahat Yasmeen (Sukkur) 21-20, 21-10.

Women’s doubles: Monisha Kotia and Mehwish Zaman (Karachi) bt Farhat and Rahat (Sukkur) 21-15, 14-21, 21-12.
