Over 200 beggars arrested

GUJRANWALA, Oct 24: Police on Friday arrested more than 200 beggars, including women and children, during a crackdown from various parts of the city and sent them to the jail.

The police arrested these beggars from Lohianwala, Pindi Bypass, Alipur Chowk, Alam Chowk, Khiali Shahpur Intersection, Old City Railway Station, General Bus Stand and various bazaars and markets. Later, child beggars were released.

ROBBERS CAUGHT: People caught two robbers when they were looting passersby at Upper Chenab Canal near Karlabadi and handed them to police on Friday.

The robbers set up a picket at the track passing by the canal and looted the passersby. People reached the scene, surrounded the robbers and asked them to surrender, but they opened fire at the people. The people retaliated and in consequence the injured robbers surrendered.

People caught them and handed them to the police. They were identified as Adnan and Tanvir of the same area.
