One killed, ten injured in accidents

RAWALPINDI, Oct 24: One person was killed and ten others were injured in separate traffic accidents in the city on Friday, police said.

In the first accident, a trolley hit a motorcycle at Golra Mor, killing Safeer Ahmad and injuring his wife Shazia and two daughters – six months and 1-1/2 years old.

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital by Rescue 1122 personnel where they were stated in critical condition.

Another man identified as Gulzar, 45, sustained injuries after falling from a Suzuki van while travelling from Golra Mor to Islamabad.

In another accident at Sawan Adda, a van (JD-103/ISB) overturned due to speeding. As a result, Sohaib, 34, Shahbaz, 26 and Shahid, 23, were injured.

Four persons were injured after being hit by a motorcycle at Pirwadhai Mor. The injured were identified as Mohammad Aslam, 35, Rubina Bibi, 22, and Fiaz Gul, 55.

Meanwhile, the Saddar Barooni police booked a man in the murder case of his wife on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

Nasim Akhtar lodged a complaint with the police that her daughter Shaheena Mujahid got married with Ahmad Abdul Aziz some seven years back. She said after the marriage her husband started teasing her, asking her to bring cash and property from her parents. The complainant said on her daughter’s request, she allotted a plot and also transferred Rs1,400,000 in her bank account. Later, her husband grabbed the plot along with the cash. She alleged that as her daughter demanded the cash and plot back, Aziz started torturing her and finally killed her on Oct 19, claiming that she had committed suicide. The same day, she added, he buried the body and got the grave cemented.The police said after a postmortem it emerged that the woman was tortured to death.
