DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 24: The police reportedly foiled a terror attempt by defusing a time-device fitted on a bicycle at the Bara Market here on Thursday night.

“The timely action saved Dera city from a mass destruction,” DPO Nasir Mehmood told the media, adding that the 10kg bomb was aimed at targeting CD centres.

The shop owners had received threatening letters from militants asking them to wind up their businesses.

The police after getting information reached the spot along with the bomb disposal squad and defused the bomb.

He said that the police recovered ten kilograms of explosives including five litres of petrol and other inflammable substances. The bomb was to be exploded after three minutes when it was defused, he added.

Police have registered a case against unidentified miscreants and started investigation.
