MINGORA, Oct 23: Two persons including a minor girl were injured when helicopter gunships targeted suspected positions of militants in Kabal tehsil of the troubled Swat district on Thursday, residents said.

They said that the bombardment by helicopters in Sar Senai village had created uncertainty among the people. They said that the continuing operation had triggered large scale displacement.

Due to the closure of roads, the people faced difficulties in using unfrequented routes to reach safer places, they said.

BODY FOUND: The beheaded body of a police official, who was kidnapped from Charbagh bazaar, was found on Thursday. The slain official was identified as Hawaldar Bakht Ali. Police shifted the body to Saidu Sharif hospital for postmortem.

Bakht Ali’s brother Hawaldar Sarwar Ali had also been kidnapped and beheaded one year ago.

MAN KILLED: A young man identified as Sardar Khan was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Aligrama area of Kabal tehsil. The attackers fled the area after the incident. Police took body into custody and shifted it to Saidu Sharif hospital for postmortem.

WOMEN’S ENTRY BANNED: Traders and shopkeepers have pulled down shutters and displayed banners saying that entry of women into the bazaar is banned. The strike call had been given by Meena Bazaar Traders Association.
