KOHAT, Oct 22: Eight officials of the local government have been suspended on charges of embezzling over Rs10.90 million in the tehsil municipal administration.

According to an official order, the officials were associated with the construction of a plaza and they allegedly forged receipts, and embezzled Rs19,095,109.

The suspended officials were: grade-17 officers Noor Daraz Khattak, Mohammad Shahid Khattak, Mohammad Ishtiaq, Mohammad Rafique, Mohammad Shaheedur Rehman, Mohammad Shoaib, and grade-16 officials Shah Nawaz Khan and Mohammad Amin.

POWER OUTAGE: The residents of the urban and rural areas experienced immense troubles due to loadshedding of three hours after every one hour from morning till late night here on Wednesday.

The hide-and-seek began early in the morning at 7am and power supply was repeatedly suspended without any schedule. Electricity supply to hospitals, especially the Combined Military Hospital, remained disconnected for six hours and patients, who came from far-flung areas, were asked to wait till 9pm.

The patients suffered a lot as the laboratory tests and x-rays recommended by doctors could not be carried out.
